jdw174 Junior Member Posts: 164 Hey ReelMech, thanks for everything Jan 9th, 2007, 7:33am I'd managed to clean 8 out of 11 reels with no trouble (simple round reels) before I started on my three shimanos. I gave up and sent one Curado, and two Castaics to ReelMechanic. Got them back yesterday, and they feel better than when when new!!! He sent me a note telling me what all he found wrong with the Curado (after I'd got through with it ), and all I can say is lesson learned. It's a lot easier to let Dave's fingers do the walking Thanks Dave. You get my business from now on hipster_dufus Junior Member Posts: 232 kudos to reel mech Jan 8th, 2007, 9:59am just got my reels back from reel mechanic, nice and smooth. cant wait to try them out. fast turn around and nice work. thank u reel mech! I tell ya--I believe they work better now than they did before I sent them. I've only used one of the 50MG and the 201SF. I tell ya, it was well worth the money to me. Thanks again and I know we'll be doing business in the future. avid Been posting a long time Posts: 2202 Re: Thank you Reel Mech!!!!! Reply #2 - May 5th, 2006, 11:50am Mr ReelMech services my reels with the outstanding service/quality you described. He is an asset to the BR.com community for his generous sharing of knowledge. There are some professional members of the community who use the forums as a way to promote themselves without "giving back" in the way of free advice etc. Reelmech is not one of them. We are fortunate to have a bona fide rod and reel expert so willing to help. basser89 Senior Member Posts: 951 Thank you Reel Mech!!!!! May 4th, 2006, 10:55pm Just got my Accurist PT back this evening that ReelMech had serviced for me! Boy, what a difference a QUALITY service center provides!!! From start to finish, he let me know everything from how to pack it, to when he received it, to the details of what the reel needed, to when it was shipping out and when to expect it (tracking number)! You have one TOP NOTCHED service center ReelMech! Keep up the GREAT work!!!! Even though I really enjoy workin (minor things) on my reels, I'm planning on rotating my baitcasters through at least once a year for a cleaning or any time I have a problem too big for me to handle! I know some you have used ReelMech in the past, but those of you that haven't, give him a try! You won't be disappointed with the results!!! I'm not! Thanks again ReelMech!!! hootersdoug Message Board Newbie Posts: 81 Professional Help May 4th, 2006, 4:03am Just want to say thanks a lot to "ReelMech" and the rest of you for allowing us to tap your wealth of knowledge! A lot of the tips and info would take years of trial and error for us to figure out on our own!! Deuceu72 Full Member ReelMech Book Yesterday at 1:06pm Hey All.........I received ReelMech's book on servicing baitcasting reels in the mail yesterday. I have to tell you that this is probably the BEST deal for this kind of guide ever! It has all kinds of illustrations about servicing your reels and some top notch info on how to go about it and at a VERY reasonable price. I would HIGHLY recommend this to ANYONE wanting to service your own reels. Thank you so much ReelMech! It was better than I ever expected!!!! Lucky Craft Man Message Board Newbie Re: ReelMech Book Reply #2 - Yesterday at 3:53pm ReelMech has a service like no other. I placed an order with him over the internet late Wednesday night. The order was filled that night, placed in the mail on Thursday, and was sitting waiting for me Saturday morning. I could not believe it. I also agree with Deuceu72, that baitcasting servicing book is great. It gives you some great ideas on disassembling and organizing your reel parts and really spells out what you should oil, grease, clean, or just wipe off with a rag. The book is highly recommended. I hope ReelMech comes out with a book on servicing spinning reels. Thanks ReelMech for the good products and service. I thought to myself, "I'm in Massachusetts; why the heck am I sending my reels to be serviced in Kansas, for heaven's sake, when I can get them serviced right around here?" Well, I'm a convert. The reels were back before I realized they were gone, and they work smooth as silk and as silent as a bass lurking in cover. A first-class gentleman and craftsman. |

Thu, 25 Nov 2004 10:40:31 EST I received my reels back in good order and wanted to say thanks again for the quick turn around. I will recomend you to all of my fishing friends. Have a good holiday season. Sandy Potterton To: "David Green" Date: Mon, 04 Dec 2006 21:36:19 Dave-- The two reels you serviced arrived today, and they are smoother and quieter than they've ever been. Thank you so much for your fine work, as well as for your speedy service. I never expected them back so soon! I wondered about the wisdom of sending them so far to be serviced, but I hardly missed them, and the quality of work was well worth the shipping costs. Thanks again! Best, Norman To: "David Green" Date: Sat, 05 April 2007 Dave-- I got the reels yesterday and I had a chance to take them out today. They worked great. I can't thank you enough for fixing them for me. You exceeded my expectations. Thanks again, Gene PS. Be expecting more of my reels in the future. To: "David Green" Date: Sat, 12 May 2007 Dave-- Thanks for the advise on my curado, it fixed it. Shimano® said they had no idea what the problem was and you diagnosed it in one short email. Thanks, Randy Calcutta 151's March 24, 2009 9:23 AM From:"Alan Mikkelsen" David, I am sending you two Calcutta 151's for you to do your magic on. I am extremely pleased with the last three reels I sent you. I posted the following on Bass Resources.com: Last summer I sent The Reel Mechanic three reels, two Shimano Calcutta 251's and a new Curado 101D. I asked for bearing and drag upgrades (supertuned). I have fished the heck out of them, with the Calcutta's being used for steelhead (big steelhead) all winter. The drags especially were awesome. Not a hiccup in any of them. The Curado 101D was really smooth, but I had no idea until recently. I picked up a Chronarch 51 mg on closeout, and it felt really good. Weather just got good enough to try it out, so it went on a Crucial 7', medium light rod. I popped out two brakes (normal Shimano setting), spooled up with 8# P-Line Cx, tied on an unweighted 4" Senko and stepped out of the shop door to see how things flew. I could easily get 75', and the Chronarch felt really good. Then I went back in and grabbed a 6'6" Compre, medium action, and put the Reel Mechanic 101D on it, same line, same Senko. When I got this reel back from the Reel Mechanic, I had to pop out a third brake, just couldn't get reliable results with two weights out. Stepped out of the shop, with a 6" shorter rod, one more brake out, and let fly. The Reel Mechanic 101D easily went 80', reliably. While I love my Chronarch MG, and will eventually send it in, too, I'm looking for another 101D to send in to Reel Mechanic. In the meantime, there are two Calcutta 151's on the way to him for supertuning! Alan MikkelsenAlpine Research, LLC St. Ignatius, MT Thursday, September 17, 2009 10:36 AM To: David, My reel arrived this morning. Man, what a difference in free spool. You are clearly "the man" when to comes to putting things right with fishing reels. Thanks, George FieneReel Shipment Friday, February 5, 2010 10:24 AM From: "John Meyer" To: "Dave" David,
