"Reel Mechanic's Book"

Hey All.........I received Reel Mechanic's book on servicing baitcasting reels in the mail yesterday. I have to tell you that this is probably the BEST deal for this kind of guide ever! It has all kinds of illustrations about servicing your reels and some top notch info on how to go about it and at a VERY reasonable price. I would HIGHLY recommend this to ANYONE wanting to service your own reels. Thank you so much Reel Mechanic! It was better than I ever expected!!!!

"Reel Mechanic's Book"

The Reel Mechanic has a service like no other. I placed an order with him over the internet late Wednesday night. The order was filled that night, placed in the mail on Thursday, and was sitting waiting for me Saturday morning. I could not believe it. I also agree with Deuceu72, that baitcasting servicing book is great. It gives you some great ideas on disassembling and organizing your reel parts and really spells out what you should oil, grease, clean, or just wipe off with a rag. The book is highly recommended. I hope Reel Mechanic comes out with a book on servicing spinning reels. Thanks Reel Mechanic for the good products and service.

"Reel oils and lubes"

When I was searching for info and suplies to clean my own reels, I allmost bought the ardent kit. When I found RM's site and found that he sells everthing you need, at little to no markup over cost I might add, I bought all my supplies from him.

He sells the reel scrubber or will tell you the site to buy it from. He sells a bottle of lightweight oil that match's manufacturer recommended. I like his oil because the bottle has a long fine needle applicator. One drop is easy to put right where you want it. He also sells quality screwdriver set with swivel heads and a set of pliers that have been customized. These pliers are the safe way to remove the pin on the spool shaft. You have to remove that pin to pull the bearings. You could just use a punch but you might bend the shaft or mushroom the head of the pin.

Most important to me though was his book, the table top guide to reel maintenance. It has walked me through the prices oF cleaning and servicing my casting reels in a way that is easy to understand. It tells you what to look for as far as damaged part. It teaches you about possible upgrades and has detailed trouble shooting section. I bought the book, the reel scrubber spray, the oil and grease, the screwdriver set and the pliers with punch all for around $55 bucks.
A great investment as far as I'm concerned.

Here's how I learn to service my reels. Goto ReelMechanics web site and goto the supplies section (http://www.fishing-tackle-repair.com/shopping/storefront.html) . In that section Reel Mechanic has a book called "Table Top Reference Guide to Reel Maintenance." Get this book as it's worth it's weight in gold and follow it closely. As you get better at cleaning your reels by using this book, you will start to explore cleaning your reels in a little deeper fashion (e.g., soaking bearings, etc.). Also, I get my reel cleaning and lubing supplies from Reel Mech, because I really like his grease and oil and the "Reel Scrubber" is an absolute must. I hope this helps and good luck.
