What Is The Table Top Reference Guide to Reel Maintenance?
and Why Should I Buy It?

In conjunction with the proper reel schematic quality oil & grease. This is a must have table top reference guide for any angler who has ever attempted or wanted to attempt to clean their own baitcasting reel and ended up sending all the parts in a bag to a repair shop.

Here Is A Note From The Author:

Welcome! and thank you for your interest in the "Table Top Reference Guide to Reel Maintenance"

As you can see the bench side tips and tricks, and basic maintenance article's only touch on the proper way to service your baitcasting reel/s.

Have you sometimes in this lousy economy wished that you had a reference tool at your side to help you when your trying to disassemble your favorite reel/s?. I know of service videos and they are very hard to watch and stop when you get confused and have to start the video again. We have also heard reports of those videos not playing properly in some machines.

So I sat down one day and started a tape recorder, had a friend take pictures over my shoulder as I put my 20 years of experience onto the tape while cleaning and lubricating a reel, one year later and we came up with this table top reference guide.

This reference guide will quickly and easily teach any angler a fail-safe technique for cleaning and repairing any baitcasting reel on the market today.

I had it printed in a large 8 1/2"x11" format easier to read and to hold the pictures, and information. It is bound so that it will lay flat (no folding or creasing to keep the pages flat on the table), also a clear front and back cover to protect the book when placed on a dirty table or bench top. The pages are printed on heavy weight paper, one side only so there is no text bleed through, leaving the back of each page free for personal notations on the service of your reel/s.

It is 53 pages of text and 123 black and white photo illustrations. There is a lot of extra valuable information on the identification and function of reel components mixed in, and, a section on Solutions for Common Problems.

DISCLAIMER: This book was produced to show the technique I use in conjunction with the reels proper schematic. With time and experience you will develop your own technique versions for disassembly and reassembly. However, this technique is applicable to all models and brands of baitcast & spinning reels. The baitcasting reels shown here are for reference only and are used for illustrative purposes only.

Assuming your baitcasting reel is cleaned at a local or on-line repair shop, the cost will be $20.00 or more to clean a reel (price is generally between $16.00 to $27.00). This reference guide will more then pay for itself the very first time its techniques are put into use. So you will eliminate a lot of expense over time, also you will be able to keep your equipment in top shape.

David (reelmech) & Penny (boss)

I got your book yesterday and used it immediately to partially clean, grease and lube a beat-up old Ryobi V-Mag 3 reel that I could not find a schematic for. I put the reel in good enough shape to test it out on casting 3/16 oz lures on my new pack rod; the reel worked fine and I will now try to find another one in better shape on eBay.

Your book is an outstanding piece of work on reel maintenance - Thank you! Early in my life (through my Navy years and eight years following) I spent 12 years as an aircraft mechanic so I am familiar with how mechanical things work and I know how a task can go South on you when you don't have some guidance; the Table Top Reference provided just what I needed. It is very well organized, written and illustrated. You both deserve a lot of credit for the work you've accomplished.

I collect early old baitcasters and have performed maintenance on many of them but an old Meek or Redifor is so much more simplex than today's reels are - a mechanical aptitude and common sense always proved sufficient to do a good maintenance job. With your book I feel confident enough to pick-up newer reels on eBay and put them in shape for kids to fish with.

Again, Thank You. I'll be in touch for advice and supplies.

Best Regards, Emmett
